Treasure hunt!

final thoughts

Well done, ladies! I am sure many of you wandered through parks and trails in search of my lost bracelet and I thank you for that. Did you have fun getting out in the beautiful summer weather, despite whether or not you found a fairy home? Did you find a new favorite place? Did you hear the owl?

In case you were stumped by any of the clues, here is the key:

CLUE #1
Nearby French water you may even drink
Passersby we watch aperched the brink
Few walk our winding path
But we are not best at math

Explanation: “French water you may even drink” refers to the name of the park “reservoir woods”. The brink refers to the top of the bluff and the “winding path” was meant to describe a dirt path versus a paved path.

Our thoughts: Reservoir Woods was named this because it once held an underground tank full of drinking water.

CLUE #2
Our Spanish High View is quite the site
One an English Queen could find delight
The sight of forest and Dale
Between these she’d ne’er fail

Explanation: “Spanish High View” is Alta Vista, “English Queen” refers to Victoria and “Dale” which are all street names the site is in between.

Our thoughts: If you hadn’t guessed that it was in the Reservoir Woods park from the first clue, this should have at least helped you narrow that down. If you had, this would have better defined which part of the park. Did you know that Reservoir Woods is the highest point in Roseville?

CLUE #3
In night the deer and fawn nearby bed
Daytime brings hammocks swinging instead
From cotton our home did grow
A shelter from rain and snow

Explanation: “From cotton our home did grow” means it’s in a cottonwood tree and because it’s sheltered from rain and snow means it must be inside rather than out.

Our thoughts: There are many deer in this park and this plateau is a favorite spot for people with hammocks.

CLUE #4
To keep our secret we stopped traffic
You know our home is telepathic
Hidden in our recessed hole
To remain unseen our goal

Explanation: “To keep our secret we stopped traffic, you know our home is telepathic” refers to the branch that dropped from the tree and covered the small dirt path.

Our thoughts: Fun fact!! While I was sitting at the base of the tree creating this fairy home for you all to find, that branch fell right next to me! Yes, it was loud and scary, but I didn't panic and my dog and I remained safe. I did have to wonder if there was some magic afoot though...

CLUE #5
Each morning we watch the sun rising
Through the treetops we hear the birds sing
Now a hole where once was root
Nightly we do hear owl hoot

Explanation: “we watch the sun rise” means the hole faces the east.

Our thoughts: There is a resident owl who lives in the valley the hole faces who not only hoots at night but can often be heard hooting in the day too.

Congrats to Daisy & Dandelion for your tireless searching and stellar sleuthing! You've won the grand prize and I'm so happy you've found that bracelet! I'm sure those fairies won't miss it too much.

For those of you who still like a good puzzle and a tromp through the woods, there is still a prize to win. Anyone who find this fairy home and submits a photo of it will be entered into a drawing. Two more clues will still be given. Good luck and enjoy the hunt!

And if those fairies still elude you, the meanings behind the clues will be announced at 5pm on Friday.

While tromping through the woods yesterday I ran across a family hot on the trail of these sneaky fairies. Thank you for searching for my lost bracelet! It is a comfort to know that there are others out there looking for it :)

I've seen so many campers & caddies out an about since camp started! You're so easy to spot. These fairies still seem to be hiding quite well. Have any of you thought to bring your fairy bells along?

Where did my fairies go?!?

Like any good Girl Scout, I made a fairy home and was delighted when they moved in. While visiting the fairies the other day, I dropped something near and dear to me. Shortly after, I ran back to retrieve it but they’d up and moved, leaving me only clues as to where to find their new home and my shiny trinket! Can you help me find it? Here’s the first clue. Come back each day for their latest clue & put them all together to find where they moved to. When you find their home, please post a photo of where they are. If you return my bracelet I’ll give you a handsome reward!

First Clue:
