Sponsored by: Roseville Service Unit About Us We are a multigenerational camp which has been serving the girls near Roseville since 1968. Longstanding traditions abound and all are aimed at providing a fun summer experience at Camp Lakamaga! It's our goal to provide a safe environment where girls can explore camp while developing their life skills. Campers are placed in small program units with approximately 8-9 other children their age. Activities at camp include arts and crafts, nature exploration, singing, playing games, swimming, cooking outdoors, and earning Girl Scout badges and patches. Junior Girl Scouts also try their hand at archery and complete an adventure course. Girls going into 5th & 6th grade get to sleep over with their caddies! Who Can Go to Day Camp? All girls & boy siblings entering grades 1- 6 (next fall) are welcome to attend as campers. Girls who have taken the council caddie training or attended Caddoodles who are entering grades 7 to graduating high schoolers are our young leaders. Day camp is open to all girls regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, ability, or socioeconomic status. When and Where is Day Camp?
How Much Does Camp Cost? $235 per camper $70 per caddie/JC Please make checks payable to “Roseville Girl Scout Day Camp” and submit payment with your health form by April 5th. Each full-time volunteer receives one free camper registration. Grants for Girls are available; contact us or River Valley's Council for details. |
How Do I Get to Camp?
Bus transportation is available from Parkview Center & Falcon Heights School in Roseville and is included in the camp fee. Can I Come to Camp with A Friend? Yes! Two friends may register together as “buddies” and will be placed in a unit together for the week. One pair only, please! Usually, girls in the same troop tend to get paired up together as a priority, so a buddy is usually a friend you met at camp last year. Stated buddies in the registration form must match. For safety reasons, the pair will be placed in a unit appropriate for the youngest girl in the buddy pair. Who Will Be My Camp Counselor? Day camp is organized, staffed, and led entirely by volunteers. Each unit of approximately 12-15 girls is led by two adult Girl Scout volunteers and three teen Girl Scouts (Caddies). Each unit will have an adult trained in First Aid, CPR and Outdoor Skills. What About Health and Safety? We will be following all Health & Safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC and River Valleys. Health and safety awareness is a part of staff training and camper orientation. We will follow the guidelines provided by the Girl Scouts of the USA, as well as state and local health codes. We have a Certified Medical Assistant on site at all times. How Do I Sign Up? Registration begins March 1st at noon and will remain open until camp is full or until April 5th. Payment and forms must be submitted no later than April 5th. Can I Use Cookie Credits? You may use cookie credits or camperships earned during the 2023 cookie sale. Once you have received your cookie credits in late spring, please contact us to arrange for a refund for part/all of your registration fee. Will I Get More Information About Day Camp Before It Starts? Yes! In May, you will receive a letter that will include packing lists of items your camper needs to bring to camp, and their bus assignment & schedule. |
What If I Have to Cancel?
If you have a family emergency or other serious illness please notify us by June 3rd for a full refund. For cancellations due to circumstances not listed above, camp fees are not refundable. Refunds will not be issued later than four weeks prior to the start of camp. If you need to cancel your camper’s registration, please contact us as soon as possible. Are There Other Day Camp Options? Yes! Other day camps are offered during the summer and more information can be found at the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys web site at www.grilscoutsrv.org and click on “Camps”. Volunteers-Volunteers-Volunteers We are looking for adults to volunteer at Day Camp! Day camp volunteers are needed as unit leaders and program support. Our camp runs smoothly with about 45 volunteers. With your help, we will have a successful day camp program! Day camp volunteers do not need to be outdoor experts or previous Girl Scout volunteers. All volunteers are encouraged to attend a Girl Scout council sponsored outdoor training and will be expected to attend a pre-day camp meeting prior to our week at camp. Additional information will be sent to you in April. All volunteers must be a registered member of the GS organization and have a back-ground check completed. Benefit: We will waive one camper fee for each adult who volunteers at camp for the entire 5 days. Little Sprouts: Childcare services for our volunteers for potty-trained children aged 2 1/2 - 5 years of age. The fee is $60 for the week and food is provided. Green Giants: Male siblings going into grades 1-6 are welcome to join a group which does many of the same activities as their scout sister plus a few tailored just for them. The fee is the same as a camper. Our childcare and boys' unit will depend upon how many register and if we have enough full time adult volunteers to fill that need. These units are specifically created so our volunteers have access to childcare while supporting our camp. We will give you plenty of advanced notice if we cannot make that work. |
