Volunteer Pre-camp Training Meeting June 14th, 7-8:30pm, at Falcon Heights United Church. Every volunteer is expected to attend this informative meeting.
Please volunteer Consider volunteering your time to help girls grow, learn self-confidence and become tomorrow's leaders. As a volunteer-led day camp, this camp runs on your time, energy and support (and maybe even a few miracles). We need at least 30-45 adults for Day Camp to run smoothly. We are looking for adults to volunteer at Day Camp! Day camp volunteers are needed as unit leaders and program support. Our camp runs smoothly with about 45 volunteers. With your help, we will have a successful day camp program! Day camp volunteers do not need to be outdoor experts or previous Girl Scout volunteers. All volunteers are encouraged to attend a Girl Scout council sponsored outdoor training and will be expected to attend a pre-day camp meeting prior to our week at camp. Additional information will be sent to you in April. All volunteers must be a registered member of the GS organization and have a back-ground check completed. Benefit: We will waive one camper fee for each adult who volunteers at camp for the entire 5 days.
*Little Sprouts: Childcare services for our volunteers for potty-trained children aged 2 1/2 - 5 years of age. The fee is $60 for the week and food is provided.
*Green Giants: Male siblings going into grades 1-6 are welcome to join a group which does many of the same activities as their scout sister plus a few tailored just for them. The fee is the same as a camper.
*Our childcare and boys' unit will depend upon how many register and if we have enough full time adult volunteers to fill that need. These units are specifically created so our volunteers have access to childcare while supporting our camp. We will give you plenty of advanced notice if we cannot make that work. There are many ways you can help make this camp possible:
Join the team
The camp director does not do this alone! There is a whole team who works year round behind the scene to help create this one week of magic. We are often rotating volunteers through positions which work on the programing, help manage the finances, create menus and even the schedules. Some positions are a great role for someone who cannot attend camp but has additional time for support. Contact Camp Directors for more information about these roles.
Full Time Volunteer
Our full time volunteers often are assigned to a unit for the whole week. Your role is to support the Caddies and be that extra body and ounce of wisdom which often comes in handy. Other roles our full time volunteers might fill would be as a childcare provider or leading the boys unit. We are always in need of those who can be reliable face for the week. Plus, you get a camper registration fee for free!
Part Time Volunteer
These are the adults who fill in those gaps! Do you have special training in Low Ropes, Archery or Small Watercraft and can only take off a day or two of work? We can use you during those specialty days.
No? We've got so many activities which need little or no skill to run but need an adult (aka Craft Specialist) to help manage the station while the units cycle through.
Specialty Positions
Nurse - We need an Rn or similar profession to attend camp and be on site for those little (very rarely big) boo boo's.
Water Person - Our camp is run during one of the hottest weeks of the summer and it's very important everyone stay hydrated. It's a constant job keeping those water jugs filled! Perk? You get to drive the golf cart.
Bus Captain - Riding the bus every day? We need someone to take attendance to make sure every little head that comes to camp makes it back to their parent at the end of the day.
Daycare - Oftentimes to volunteer we need to bring along an extra buddy. Ready to hang with those little ones playing games, splashing in a kiddie pool and spending some quiet time during the nap hour?
Green Giants (boys unit) - This is for those boy siblings who want to join camp as well! We just need two adults who are able to take the boys through their own Day Camp journey.
